Description

QUICOLOR® is one of the cheapest, most reliable and fastest antibiotic susceptibility test on the market. It is a special medium containing a color indicator. The application is exactly the same as the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method but instead of using Mueller-Hinton Medium, QUICOLOR® is used. The traditional Kirby-Bauer disk method requires overnight incubation to grow the bacterial layer and for inhibition zones to become visible. By contrast, QUICOLOR® enables observation of inhibition zones within 4 to 6 hours by changing color in response to the metabolic activity of the bacteria, even before the bacterial layer has had an opportunity to grow.
Quicolor® also enables determination of ESBL (extended spectrum beta lactamase) within 4 to 6 hours.
Quicolor® is available in two formulations:
• QUICOLOR ES®  for Enterobacteriaceae and Staphylococci, and
• QUICOLOR NF®  for non-fermentatives like Pseudomonas and Acinetobacter.
